[ngg src=”galleries” ids=”27″ display=”basic_slideshow”]Domestic performance looks into the representation of women in domestic spaces from the 50’s to the 70’s. I created several dinner party scenes all touching on themes of status anxiety and the pressure that some women may have felt. There was and perhaps still is a high standard some women felt they needed to live up to, creating extravagant food displays and providing for their families. I wanted to show the weird and wacky meals some women made with newly found convenience foods and alien appliances.
